Sunday Happenings

Today our lesson was chapter 5 in Gospel Priniples- The Creation, taught by Sister Murphy. You can also refer to: Christ and the Creation, Bruce R. McConkie, Ensign, 1982 as well as

Four Accounts of Creation, Keith Meservy, Ensign, Jan. 1986 . What do we learn from each account:
Genesis: "God created all things, Male & female were created in the image of God, & We are commanded to multiply"
Moses: "The earth and everything on it were created spiritually before they were created physically" (Moses 3:5)
Abraham: "the book of Abraham clarifies that God “organized” the worlds out of unorganized matter."
Temple Account: "It is in the temple account of the Creation that we learn that Adam is Michael, who helped Jehovah in the Creation. Elder Joseph Fielding Smith wrote: “Adam helped to form this earth. He labored with our Savior Jesus Christ. I have a strong … conviction that there were others also who assisted them. Perhaps Noah and Enoch; and why not Joseph Smith, and those who were appointed to be rulers before the earth was formed?” (Doctrines of Salvation, 1:75.)

Chapter 5: How do God's creations show that He loves us? What are some things you appreciate about God's creations?

"We are now living in this beautiful world. Think of the sun, which gives us warmth and light. Think of the rain, which makes plants grow and makes the world feel clean and fresh. Think of how good it is to hear a bird singing or a friend laughing. Think of how wonderful our bodies are—how we can work and play and rest. When we consider all of these creations, we begin to understand what wise, powerful, and loving beings Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father are. They have shown great love for us by providing for all of our needs".
